Role Description: The Lead Carpenter is a full-time, on-site role based in Fairbanks, AK, responsible for overseeing carpentry activities on residential and light commercial projects. This role includes planning daily work, reading and interpreting drawings, coordinating materials, and leading a small crew to complete framing, rough carpentry, and finish carpentry tasks. The Lead Carpenter will perform hands-on work using hand tools and power tools, ensure adherence to safety standards, and maintain a clean, organized jobsite. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve troubleshooting construction issues, collaborating with supervisors and subcontractors, and helping ensure projects are completed on schedule and to quality specifications.
Qualifications: Strong carpentry skills, including experience with rough carpentry and finish carpentry. Proficiency with framing techniques and structural layout. Safe and confident use of power tools (e.g., saws, drills, nail guns) and related equipment. Skilled in using hand tools accurately and efficiently for measuring, cutting, and assembly. Prior experience leading or mentoring carpentry crews on active job sites. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, and may be asked to assist with estimation. Commitment to jobsite safety practices and local building codes. Reliable transportation to job sites in the Fairbanks area. High school diploma or equivalent; formal carpentry or trade training is a plus. Physical ability to perform construction work, including lifting, climbing, and working in varied weather conditions.
