Job Overview: SummaryThe Genomics Laboratory Operations Supervisor is an integral part of the Children's Hospital Colorado Precision Diagnostics Laboratory team. Oversees the Genomics Operational Laboratory team, which includes resolving issues, supporting operations and technical teams, and assisting in the implementation of solution workflows within a matrixed team environment. Contributes to fast and accurate outcomes while meeting patient care needs through collaboration with key partners and subject matter experts within the Center for Innovative Genomics. ShiftPrecision Diagnostics Laboratory Monday - Friday, day shift Requires flexibility to support weekend and evening staff as appropriate
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversees daily lab operations in the genomics facility to ensure strict adherence to quality guidelines and timely, accurate diagnostic reporting. Owns operational service-level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround time (TAT) metrics, setting goals and reporting progress on core initiatives. Leads lab operations in close coordination with distinct Technical and Clinical teams, streamlining inter-team handoffs across the matrixed organization. Implements and sustains lab operations QA programs to maintain diagnostic accuracy and operational reliability across testing platforms. Oversees physical lab equipment operations-including procurement, calibration, and maintenance-and collaborate with Innovation and Data Management for system performance and connectivity. Ensures regulatory compliance within lab operations, integrating safety, productivity, and quality improvement initiatives across matrixed groups. Drives operational workflow solutions and leads cross-departmental project logistics in partnership with Clinical, Technical, and executive leadership. Develops operational staffing models and daily work plans aligned with organizational priorities and performance targets. Supervises full employee lifecycle activities-including hiring, coaching, and performance management-for the lab operations team. Champions continuous improvement and standardization of operational procedures in collaboration with Technical and Clinical partners. Represents lab operations in leadership priorities, resolves operational escalations, and maintains high standards of service delivery. Manages the lab operations budget and provides financial oversight to ensure alignment between expenditure and operational goals.
Minimum Requirements: EDUCATION- Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology or a related field
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years' experience in a high complexity genomics clinical laboratory setting. Broad knowledge of genetics, molecular biology, and sequencing technologies. Experience with clinical data, electronic health records (EHR). EQUIVALENCY- Combination of additional experience and education may substitute on a 1:1 year basis. CERTIFICATION(S)- N/A

Preferred Requirements: Ideal candidate would have previous people management experience and in-depth knowledge of complex genomic workflows. Deep expertise in complex genomics laboratory operations, testing methodologies, and end-to-end workflow management. Demonstrated success leading and developing laboratory personnel in fast-paced clinical and molecular diagnostic environments. Experience implementing and managing laboratory automation solutions and coordinating staffing and production schedules across multiple shifts to ensure operational excellence.
Salary Information: Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $100,649.67 to $150,974.51
