About the role
Eagle Search are proud to be representing a rapidly scaling AI drug discovery company working at the intersection of machine learning, biology and chemistry, with an ambition to change how the next generation of medicines is discovered. The company is tackling some of the hardest questions in pharmaceutical research: which biological targets to pursue, which molecules to develop and which experiments will move a programme forward. By combining AI with biological data and experimental science, its approach aims to help researchers uncover opportunities that conventional methods might miss and advance the most promising drug candidates with greater confidence. Having secured major investment and established a strong international footprint, the business is entering its next phase of growth. They are now seeking a Chief Commercial Officer to join the executive leadership team and turn that scientific potential into lasting commercial partnerships.
The opportunity:
This is an opportunity to shape the commercial direction of a business operating at the forefront of AI and drug discovery. The Chief Commercial Officer will define and execute the global commercial strategy, build the commercial organisation and develop strategic relationships across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Working closely with the CEO and scientific leadership, you will help determine where the platform can create the greatest value and how that value translates into revenue, research collaborations and long-term growth. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who can move confidently between scientific and commercial conversations, earn credibility with senior R&D decision-makers and structure partnerships around complex, emerging technology.
Key responsibilities:
Define and deliver the global commercial strategy, prioritising markets, customers and applications with the strongest potential.
Build, lead and develop high-performing business development, sales, marketing and alliance management teams.
Establish strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, from initial engagement through negotiation and expansion.
Shape commercial models spanning platform access, research collaborations and licensing, as appropriate to the business.
Translate complex scientific capabilities into a clear proposition for research leaders and executive decision-makers.
Work closely with AI, biology and chemistry teams to align commercial commitments with scientific capabilities and development priorities.
Bring rigour to pipeline management, revenue forecasting and commercial execution.
Represent the business at industry events and in senior strategic discussions.
Required skills and experience:
A successful track record in senior commercial leadership within drug discovery, biotechnology, computational biology or a relevant life sciences technology business.
Demonstrated experience growing revenue and building commercial teams in an innovative, scaling organisation.
Experience securing and negotiating significant pharmaceutical or biotechnology partnerships.
A strong understanding of the drug discovery process and how AI can support target discovery, molecular design and candidate optimisation.
The ability to develop commercial models that reflect both the value of a technology platform and the economics of drug discovery.
Credibility with scientific stakeholders, combined with the judgement to navigate complex buying processes and long development cycles.
An entrepreneurial mindset and a hands-on approach to building teams, opening relationships and closing agreements.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
