About the role

Waterworks Operator Our client is seeking a Waterworks Operator to support flushing, monitoring, and maintenance of a non-potable water distribution system. This is a temporary position expected to last 4 months, with possible transition to full-time based on available positions at the end of the contract.
Pay: $17.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform flushing tasks on the non-potable water distribution system using flushing equipment and technologies
  • Monitor and check water quality in the distribution system
  • Review utility maps to determine flow, valve locations, and proper flushing points
  • Operate valves, hydrants, and blow-offs to restore and maintain water quality
  • Maintain and operate monitoring equipment, ensuring QA/QC procedures are followed
  • Implement flushing plans using GIS and Cityworks tracking technologies
  • Prepare written/electronic reports on maintenance, water quality, and customer complaints
  • Monitor, schedule, and track completion of preventative/corrective maintenance
  • Collect and maintain water quality data; evaluate historical trends
  • Maintain inventory of parts and tools for flushing operations
  • Report to Lead Flushing Technician
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GEDFlorida Driver's License
  • Skilled utilities field experience, including water delivery systems, water quality monitoring/flushing, and related inspections
  • Ability to operate water distribution infrastructure (valves, hydrants, blow-offs)
  • Ability to perform water quality monitoring using field test equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plats, maps, and diagrams
  • Ability to complete written or electronic field data records

  • Leadership experience
  • Availability to work varied schedules, including emergency/disaster situations
