About the role

The Opportunity: Our client is expanding its middle market M&A advisory platform and seeks a Virtual Sales professional to lead early-stage conversations with founders and privately held business owners. The role is designed for someone who can pair a strong sales process with empathy, financial curiosity, and mature executive communication. Rather than cold prospecting, you will work with provided inbound leads who are actively evaluating strategic alternatives. Your responsibility is to assess alignment, educate the owner, and earn the trust required to begin a formal advisory engagement.
What You Will Do: Serve as the primary initial contact for inbound owners considering strategic alternatives. Lead consultative meetings that clarify company background, owner goals, and transaction timing. Evaluate readiness and fit, including expectations around valuation and process. Educate prospective clients on the benefits and stages of a competitive sell-side process. Develop relationships across the decision cycle and keep all stakeholders aligned. Move qualified prospects toward an executed engagement letter with appropriate urgency. Document interactions, risks, next steps, and conversion data in the CRM.Collaborate with banking leadership on positioning, handoffs, and market feedback. What You BringSenior-level sales or business development experience in a trust-based B2B environment. Strong business acumen and an ability to learn how privately held companies create value. Professional virtual presence and excellent listening, questioning, and presentation skills. Experience managing longer sales cycles and high-consideration decisions. Exposure to investment banking, M&A, private equity, accounting, finance, or consulting is advantageous. Reliable availability from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time in a remote setting.
