About the role

A privately held energy investment firm focused on oil and gas is looking for an experienced accounting leader to own its accounting function. Reporting to a CFO who has built finance teams from scratch more than once, you'll lead the close, reporting, and systems, and develop a small team. The business has significant capital behind it and a clear growth plan, so the role will expand as the company does. You'll work alongside a lean, highly capable team you'll learn a lot from. Note this role operates 5 days onsite.
What You'll Be Doing: Partner with the investment team, engineers, and finance leaders across the group to understand the assets and turn operational activity into clear financial reporting. Lead and develop a small accounting team, shaping how the function operates as the business scales. Own the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financials and reporting to leadership. Act as system administrator, strengthening processes and reporting along the way.
Who You Are: CPA with 10+ years of accounting experience, including significant time in oil and gas. Offshore experience is a plus. Strong systems background and comfortable owning administration of the accounting platform. A hands-on self-starter who thrives on a small team and works easily with people outside finance. Motivated by building and improving a function, and by growing your scope along with the company. Big 4 experience and an MBA are helpful but not required. Hoxton Circle is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
