About the role

Emergency Planning Coordinator Coordinates and administers the university's emergency planning, preparedness, and training programs supporting academic, research, healthcare, and hospital operations. Maintains emergency planning frameworks, hazard vulnerability assessments, training initiatives, and exercise programs while providing consultation, technical assistance, and guidance to departments responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing localized emergency procedures and operational plans. Collaborates with institutional partners to support compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and accreditation requirements, including Joint Commission, AAAHC, CMS, and other emergency preparedness standards.
Responsibilities: Coordinates and administers the university's emergency planning and preparedness program, including policies, planning standards, methodologies, preparedness initiatives, and continuous improvement activities supporting academic, research, clinical, and healthcare environments. Coordinates the development, maintenance, and periodic review of the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, emergency operations plans, institutional emergency planning frameworks, Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs), and related planning guidance, procedures, templates, and preparedness resources. Provides consultation, training, and technical assistance to departments in the development, implementation, and maintenance of emergency procedures, operational response protocols, hazard assessments, mitigation strategies, and readiness activities appropriate to their operational environments. Coordinates institutional emergency planning efforts and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure emergency plans, procedures, preparedness activities, resource inventories, contact databases, and operational documentation remain current, integrated, and aligned with university requirements and regulatory standards. Develops, coordinates, and delivers emergency preparedness training programs, workshops, outreach initiatives, awareness campaigns, emergency guides, floor captain programs, and community engagement activities for faculty, staff, students, healthcare personnel, and institutional partners. Coordinates the university's emergency exercise program and plans, facilitates, implements, and evaluates drills and exercises in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) principles, accreditation requirements, and organizational preparedness objectives. Supports emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance activities associated with Joint Commission, AAAHC, CMS, and other applicable accreditation frameworks, including documentation, training, exercises, corrective action planning, surveys, audits, and preparedness reviews. Supports Emergency Operations Center activations, incident management activities, situational reporting, emergency communications, and response coordination during campus emergencies, healthcare incidents, special events, and other operational disruptions. Develops after-action reports and corrective action recommendations, maintains awareness of emerging threats, regulatory requirements, and professional best practices, participates in relevant committees and professional associations, and performs other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Master's Degree preferred. LICENSES:Valid Texas driver's license is required - must have a clear driving record.
Required Skills: One year experience coordinating projects and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple organizational units.
