Role Overview:
The Formulation Specialist joins a collaborative formulation team responsible for product development, ingredient management, and regulatory compliance across a portfolio of products.
Responsibilities:
Implement and manage formula changes in coordination with internal nutritionists and external consultants Oversee plant reformulation in coordination with the procurement team Manage monthly formulation aligned with pricing and accounting inputs Project ingredient usage rates and inventory requirements Evaluate new ingredients and assess their operational and nutritional impact Ensure regulatory compliance and accurate product labeling Review and approve Veterinary Feed Directives (VFDs), coordinating with veterinarians, nutritionists, and customers to ensure documentation accuracy Monitor and maintain product quality standards Participate in plant training, audits, and quality program development (e.g., Safe Feed/Safe Food or equivalent)
Requirements:
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph. D.) in animal science, nutrition, food science, chemistry, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience considered Background in formulation, ingredient science, or product development — animal nutrition experience is a plus but not required Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and on deadline Professional communication skills; comfortable working across internal teams, customers, and technical stakeholders Ability to build collaborative relationships and handle sensitive information with discretion Curiosity-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and scientific innovation
Location: On-site position in the Denver metro area. Some travel required.
Compensation:
Full-time, salaried with competitive benefits including profit sharing and business expense reimbursement.
