About the role
- Collecting municipal solid waste, trash and recyclables; pushing and pulling carts; lifting and dumping garbage cans and containers; directing traffic.
- Collects residential refuse, recyclable materials, yard waste, construction materials, appliances, tires, motor oils and bulky waste items such as furniture.
- Cleans area around collection containers and collection truck during route collection.
- Operates cart lift mechanism to dump collection carts.
- Operates packer blade mechanism to compress refuse.
- Directs traffic and guides truck operations in congested areas of the collection route.
- Keeps abreast of OSHA, ANSI solid waste policies and standards.
- Assists with the Dial-A-Truck program.
- Disseminates information to the general public concerning basic collection route.
- Cleans and washes refuse collection equipment.
- Assembles and cleans refuse collection containers.
- Performs related tasks as required
- Required Education and Experience
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school. Must have a valid driver's license.
