Position Summary:
The Apparel Product Specialist is responsible for managing product specifications, submissions, samples, revisions, and approvals throughout the product development process. This role helps ensure products are developed accurately, meet Odd Sox quality standards, and receive all required internal and licensor approvals before moving into bulk production. The Apparel Product Specialist works closely with the Design, Licensing, and Production teams to maintain accurate product documentation, review physical samples, identify discrepancies, communicate corrections, and ensure the final product matches approved specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage product submissions, feedback, revisions, and approvals from initial concept through final production approval. Coordinate internal product approvals and work with the Licensing team on licensed product submissions. Prepare and maintain accurate tech packs, measurements, construction details, artwork specifications, packaging requirements, and other product documentation. Ensure approved development files are accurate and complete before handing them off to the Production Coordinator for factory sampling. Receive, organize, label, track, and maintain physical product samples. Review samples against approved designs, tech packs, measurements, materials, colors, construction, artwork, and packaging requirements. Identify product discrepancies and document clear correction notes, measurements, and reference photos. Review revised samples to confirm requested corrections have been completed accurately. Track the approval status of products and ensure required approvals are documented before bulk production. Maintain approved reference samples and ensure teams are working from the latest approved specifications. Maintain organized and accurate records throughout the development and approval process. Work cross-functionally with Design, Licensing, Production, and other departments to resolve product issues and keep development moving.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify differences between product specifications and physical samples. Comfortable reviewing physical products, measurements, materials, colors, construction, artwork, and packaging. Familiarity with tech packs, product specifications, or technical product documentation. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple products, samples, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to document product issues and corrections clearly and accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments. Ability to maintain accurate records and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Experience with licensed consumer products is a plus. Experience working with overseas manufacturers or sourcing partners is a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Product Development, Apparel, Fashion Merchandising, Design, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Previous experience in product development, technical product development, apparel production, quality assurance, or a related role preferred. Experience with apparel, socks, underwear, accessories, footwear, or consumer products is strongly preferred.
