About the role
- Review patient charges and make corrections as needed
- Ensure claims are accurate and complete prior to submission
- Review batch reports and resolve rejected or excluded claims
- Research and follow up on denied, unpaid, or underpaid claims
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims and reimbursement
- Post and correct insurance and patient payments and adjustments
- Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
- Respond to billing questions from patients and our pediatric Care Centers
- Provide professional and compassionate customer service
- Maintain accurate patient account information
- Follow established billing procedures, organizational policies, and HIPAA requirements
- Perform additional billing-related responsibilities as needed
- Previous medical billing experience preferred
- Pediatric billing experience is a strong plus
- Healthcare, medical office, insurance, or related administrative experience is preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical billing or coding certification is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organization and follow-through
- Comfortable learning new systems, processes, and insurance requirements
- Professional and effective communication skills
- Dependable, adaptable, and receptive to feedback
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment
- A positive, team-oriented approach and commitment to providing excellent service
