Software Engineer II - Frontend

Overview As a Software Engineer on the Chewy Plus Team, you design and evolve features for pet parents across UI, microservices, and data processing. You’ll contribute to scalable, low-latency systems and participate in architecture reviews and Dev Ops practices. You work with cross-functional peers to deliver production-ready code that impacts millions of customers. This role combines frontend, backend, and data-focused work within a growth-focused team. Compensation / Benefits 401k and equity grantpaid holidays (six per year)unlimited PTO subject to manager approvalmedical, vision, dental, life, disability insuranceparental leave and family services benefitspet adoption reimbursement Responsibilities Design and implement scalable, low-latency solutions Develop frontend components with ReactJSBuild and integrate RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot Contribute to microservices architecture and data architecture Participate in code and architecture reviews Engage in Scrum ceremonies and agile delivery Contribute to Dev Ops, IaC, deployment pipelines, and cloud services Mentor junior engineers to improve code quality Participate in on-call rotations and production issue resolution Adhere to enterprise architecture and coding standards Key requirements 4+ years of frontend experience with ReactJS, Java Script, HTML, CSSExperience building and integrating RESTful APIs using Java and Spring frameworks Experience with SQL databases (Postgres)Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures Experience with high-performing, scalable systems Ability to break down requirements into tasks Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience Experience monitoring production environments and triaging issuesstrong problem-solving and independent thinking Collaborative mindset Mentorship and coaching Strong communication skills ReactJSJava Spring Boot or Spring Web Flux
