About the role

Inventory And Warehouse Technician The City of Raleigh Police Department is seeking an experienced Inventory and Warehouse Technician. This is non-sworn administrative role consisting of clerical and manual work. The individual in this role will be responsible for receiving, storing and issuing of equipment, material, parts, supplies, merchandise, or tools. The Inventory and Warehouse Technician is responsible for compiling stock records in stockroom, warehouse or storage area.
About You: You are a dependable and detail-oriented team member who takes pride in maintaining accurate inventory and keeping materials organized and readily available. You are comfortable working with inventory records and databases, accurately documenting transactions, and following established procedures. You work well independently and as part of a team, are comfortable performing physically demanding tasks such as unloading and moving materials, and understand the importance of maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. You are committed to providing reliable customer service and supporting the needs of internal departments.
Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices
  • Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications
  • Unload trucks and stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material
  • Fills orders or issues supplies from stock
  • Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock
  • Makes adjustments or repairs to articles carried in stock
  • Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location while considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space
  • Moves or transports material or supplies to other departments
  • Maintains inventory, other stock records and equipment
  • Assists customers by looking up parts for different equipment and retrieving parts or placing orders if needed
  • Records part issues on windows database
  • Disposes of uniforms that are no longer serviceable
  • Performs other related duties as required
Typical Qualifications Required Education and Experience High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; Less than 1 year experience in general warehouse/inventory control, or related work; OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Required Licenses or Certifications Valid NC Class C Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

  • Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office or similar environment or in a warehouse environment.
