About the role
At Gridiron Insurance, we’re not a traditional insurance company. We’re a modern Managing General Underwriter (MGU) specializing in niche excess and surplus markets, where we combine deep underwriting expertise with smart, tech-driven solutions that help brokers move faster and win more business. Our work is built around solving complex challenges and delivering unique, high-value coverage where it matters most. If you want a role where your work has real impact, your growth is supported, and your decisions help shape outcomes for clients and partners - this is the place for you.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess and price risk using company underwriting guidelines and your own decision-making authority. Analyze applications, inspection reports, and claims history to make informed underwriting decisions. Track and manage workflows to ensure deadlines and service standards are met. Build and grow strong client relationships in efforts to become their first call. Communicate product updates and underwriting strategies to clients. Drive execution on new business, renewals and endorsements. Communicate with clients to gather detailed risk information while reinforcing Gridiron’s underwriting appetite and value proposition. Proactively identify and capitalize on cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited university. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A collaborative mindset that allows you to thrive in a team-driven, high-performance environment. Insurance experience is a plus, but we’re open to motivated candidates eager to learn and grow.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
