About the role
The Auto Property Damage Claims Adjuster is responsible for handling commercial auto property damage claims from investigation through resolution. This role evaluates liability, assesses claim exposure, establishes appropriate reserves, and works with internal and external partners to resolve claims efficiently and accurately. The position requires strong claims knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage claims independently while collaborating within a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Investigate auto property damage claims to determine liability and claim exposure Obtain statements of facts from involved parties and other relevant sources Gather, review, and analyze investigative materials needed to support claim decisions Evaluate repair estimates, appraisals, and related documentation to confirm damages Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves based on exposure and available information Handle low to moderately complex auto property damage claims Manage total loss and salvage processes when applicable Partner with vendors, appraisers, repair facilities, and internal business partners to support claim resolution Identify issues requiring escalation and seek guidance when appropriate Maintain accurate claim documentation and ensure timely claim activity Support business goals, performance expectations, and claims-handling best practices Use claims systems, technology, and tools effectively to manage workload Assist with nationwide catastrophe or high-volume claims operations as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of claims experience Strong working knowledge of commercial auto property damage claims Experience evaluating liability, determining fault, and assessing claim exposure Ability to handle low to moderately complex claims with accuracy and sound judgment Good understanding of regional jurisdictional considerations related to auto property claims Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment Collaborative approach with the ability to partner effectively with team members, vendors, and business partners Consistent record of strong performance and professional achievement Proficiency with claims systems, digital tools, and related technology Availability to support catastrophe or high-volume claims operations as business needs require Active Insurance Adjuster’s license required, or ability to obtain required licensing as needed
