About the role

The Opportunity: My client is seeking a commercially driven Sales + Business Development professional to help grow a middle market M&A advisory practice by converting qualified inbound opportunities into signed sell-side advisory engagements. You will work directly with founders and privately held business owners who are evaluating a sale, recapitalization, liquidity event, or other strategic alternatives. This is a consultative, relationship-driven role requiring strong business judgment, executive-level communication, and disciplined follow-through. You will lead prospective clients through the early advisory and decision-making process, assess transaction readiness and fit, communicate the value of professional M&A representation, and create the confidence needed to move forward with an engagement.
What You Will Do: Engage with qualified inbound business owners exploring a sale, recapitalization, or other strategic transaction. Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand company background, owner objectives, timing, valuation expectations, and decision criteria. Assess transaction readiness, strategic alignment, and overall fit for the firm’s sell-side M&A advisory services. Present the firm’s M&A process, capabilities, positioning, deliverables, and value proposition in clear and credible language. Build strong relationships with founders, entrepreneurs, and senior executives throughout the decision-making process. Address questions and concerns related to valuation, timing, fees, confidentiality, market conditions, and the advisory process. Create momentum through strategic follow-up, clear next steps, and consistent communication. Advance qualified opportunities from initial consultation through proposal discussions and signed engagement letters. Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline stages, forecasts, follow-up activity, and conversion reporting. Collaborate with senior bankers to ensure a seamless transition of newly engaged clients into transaction execution. Provide feedback on lead quality, client sentiment, market conditions, messaging, and opportunities to improve conversion. What You BringProven experience in consultative B2B sales, business development, high-ticket sales, financial services, or professional advisory services. Demonstrated ability to close complex, high-value engagements involving multiple conversations and sophisticated decision-makers. Strong discovery, presentation, negotiation, objection-handling, and relationship-building skills. Executive presence and the ability to communicate credibly with founders, business owners, and C-suite executives. Strong business acumen with the ability to understand privately held companies, owner objectives, and transaction considerations. Disciplined pipeline management, follow-up habits, organization, and accountability in a remote environment. Comfort working within a performance-driven, commission-only compensation structure. Experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, business brokerage, finance, consulting, accounting, wealth management, or related professional services is preferred. Full-time remote availability from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time.
Why Join: You will work with qualified inbound opportunities, engage directly with accomplished business owners at pivotal moments, collaborate with experienced M&A professionals, and have uncapped earning potential tied directly to the advisory engagements you help secure.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
