About the role
HR Generalist
Location: Eden, North Carolina
Schedule: Full-time, onsite
Employment Type:
Direct hireFLSA Status: Exempt We’re hiring an experienced HR Generalist to help build the team and HR operations for a new manufacturing facility in Eden, North Carolina. This person will handle a broad range of hands-on HR responsibilities, but two areas are especially important: Payroll processing experience is required and is a deal breaker for this role. Strong recruiting and onboarding experience is essential. As the facility prepares to begin production in the second quarter of 2027, the HR Generalist will help recruit and may onboard employees in groups of approximately 20 to 30 at a time. This person will be involved throughout the hiring process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, pre-employment coordination, onboarding, and new-hire documentation. While the plant is being outfitted and the team is being built, the HR Generalist will also serve as the front reception presence for the facility. This includes greeting visitors, managing sign-in procedures, answering incoming calls, and helping create a professional and welcoming environment. The reception component is expected to decrease once the facility is fully operational. This is a hands-on, onsite opportunity for someone who’s comfortable wearing multiple hats and helping establish HR processes within a growing manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll accurately and on time, including reviewing employee information, hours, deductions, and payroll-related documentation Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, policies, and general HR questions Recruit for a variety of manufacturing, technical, and administrative positions Manage job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and pre-employment activities Coordinate onboarding for hiring groups of approximately 20 to 30 employees at a time Prepare new-hire paperwork, employee records, benefits documentation, and other personnel files Manage employee documentation, HR records, onboarding, and offboarding Assist with benefits administration and employee enrollment Maintain accurate HR reports, employee data, and headcount information Support performance evaluations and employee-related discussions with professionalism and confidentiality Collaborate with Finance, leadership, and other departments on payroll, reporting, and workforce planning Help develop and update HR policies and procedures Greet visitors, employees, vendors, and candidates entering the facility Manage visitor sign-in procedures, badges, incoming calls, and general front-desk needs during the plant setup phase
Required Qualifications:
At least five years of HR experience with broad generalist responsibilities Hands-on payroll processing experience is required Strong recruiting experience, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding Experience coordinating multiple hires or onboarding employees in groups Knowledge of U.S. employment practices and general HR compliance Experience with benefits administration, personnel documentation, and HR systems Strong organizational and prioritization skills Professional, approachable, and comfortable serving as the first point of contact for employees and visitors Ability to work onsite in Eden, North Carolina Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
HR experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment Experience supporting the startup or expansion of a new facility Experience recruiting hourly manufacturing employees Portuguese or Spanish language skills The right person will be comfortable moving between payroll, recruiting, onboarding, employee support, documentation, and front-office responsibilities. They’ll need to be organized, flexible, service-oriented, and excited about helping build a new operation from the ground up. Interested candidates should apply directly or email your resume to Sharon Deichmann at.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
