Job Summary:
The Special Education Secretary reviews and provides recommendations on special education documents to support compliance with LEA, state, and federal laws, policies, and requirements. The position collects and compiles data and information using surveys, emails, meeting notes, and other tools. The Special Education Secretary works closely with school employees, service providers, and parents of students with IEPs to support the development of accurate and complete special education documentationDuties & Responsibilities: The position includes but is not limited to the following list of representative duties: Collect and compile data using efficient tools while maintaining FERPA requirementsWrite, edit, and proofread various types of special education documentsDevelop and edit procedural documentationPlan writing processes and establish appropriate timelines and deadlinesCreate or collaborate with graphic designers to develop diagrams, charts, and other visual aids that support understanding of reports and informationAttend meetings and take accurate meeting notesReview special education documentation and provide recommendations to support compliance with applicable requirementsWork collaboratively with school employees, service providers, and parents to support accurate and complete documentationComplete Time & Effort Certification (TEC) each pay period, certifying that compensated hours were spent conducting allowable activities according to USBE SER 2020 in support of special education students. Notify the supervisor if assigned work outside of special education so TEC and payroll funding can be accurately documentedOther duties as assignedSchedule: Typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (hours may vary based on campus or department needs)
