Director of Treasury Our client is a rapidly growing clean energy company developing, owning, and operating distributed renewable energy and battery storage projects across the United States. Backed by a leading institutional investment firm, the company is establishing a standalone platform following a corporate separation and is focused on expanding access to clean energy across underserved markets and customers.
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Director of Treasury to lead the company's cash management and treasury operations. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will have primary responsibility for daily cash positioning, forecasting, banking, payment execution, liquidity management, and treasury controls across the corporate entity and a growing portfolio of project companies. This is a hands-on, operational treasury leadership role with significant responsibility for building the company's standalone treasury infrastructure, processes, and controls. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a reliable daily cash function in a pre-ERP environment while simultaneously designing scalable systems and processes for future growth.
Key Responsibilities: Cash Management & Liquidity Own daily cash positioning across corporate and project-level bank accounts. Manage funding, concentration transfers, and intercompany cash movements while adhering to project financing requirements. Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast and longer-term liquidity outlook. Monitor forecast-to-actual variances, liquidity requirements, and minimum cash thresholds. Coordinate funding for construction, development, operating, and project-level capital requirements. Banking & Treasury Infrastructure Design and implement the company's standalone banking architecture, including account structures, concentration/sweep arrangements, and bank entitlements. Manage bank relationships, account openings and closings, signatories, mandates, KYC, and bank administration. Lead the transition of banking activities and payment flows from the former parent organization. Evaluate and implement treasury technology, bank connectivity, and automation as the organization scales. Payments & Treasury Controls Oversee payment execution across wires, ACH, and other payment methods. Administer banking platforms, approval workflows, and user entitlements. Establish and maintain strong treasury controls, including dual authorization, segregation of duties, payee verification, positive pay, and fraud prevention protocols. Develop and maintain treasury policies, bank mandates, and delegation-of-authority frameworks. Project Finance & Working Capital Administer operational aspects of credit facilities and project financings, including draws, repayments, reserve accounts, interest, and fees. Manage letters of credit and other banking requirements supporting project and contractual obligations. Partner with Accounting and FP&A on collections, payables, cash reconciliation, and liquidity forecasting. Support treasury reporting and compliance requirements for lenders and investment stakeholders. Systems, Processes & Reporting Contribute treasury requirements to ERP selection and implementation. Design bank connectivity, reporting, reconciliation, and payment processes. Drive automation and process improvements across the treasury function. Produce daily, weekly, and monthly cash and liquidity reporting for senior management and investment stakeholders. Cross-Functional Leadership Partner closely with the CFO, Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Development, Asset Management, and external banking partners. Coordinate treasury requirements associated with new project entities, financings, transactions, and corporate initiatives. Provide treasury leadership during the company's transition to standalone operations.
Qualifications: Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.8–12+ years of progressive treasury or cash management experience. Demonstrated hands-on ownership of a corporate cash position, including cash forecasting, bank administration, payment execution, and liquidity management. Strong knowledge of banking products, including wires, ACH, concentration and sweep structures, positive pay, letters of credit, and account analysis. Strong understanding of treasury controls, payment fraud prevention, and segregation of duties. Advanced Excel skills and experience operating online banking platforms. Ability to manage a disciplined daily cash process in a manual or pre-ERP environment. Strong attention to detail, judgment, and execution discipline. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with banking and cross-functional partners. Preferred Experience establishing a standalone treasury or banking function following a carve-out, separation, or newly formed company. Experience operating under and exiting transition services agreements. Experience in renewable energy, power, infrastructure, or project finance. Experience managing cash across multiple legal entities and project-level special purpose entities. Familiarity with construction draws, reserve accounts, distribution requirements, and project financing structures. Experience in a private equity- or institutional-investor-backed environment. Experience implementing treasury policies, treasury management systems, or bank connectivity solutions. Location White Plains, NYReporting Relationship Reports to the Chief Financial Officer
