Customer Support Engineer A leading semiconductor equipment manufacturer specializing in precision wafer prober systems is seeking a skilled Customer Support Engineer to provide on-site technical support at a customer facility in Boise, Idaho. This role focuses on ensuring peak performance of advanced semiconductor testing equipment by delivering expert installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer guidance. The position is best suited for an engineer with hands-on experience in precision electromechanical systems who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and enjoys collaborative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities: Install, repair, and maintain wafer prober systems and related peripheral equipment. Perform periodic maintenance (PM) and calibration to ensure optimal system accuracy and uptime. Execute basic-to-intermediate mechanical/electrical repairs while communicating effectively with customer teams. Identify and document recurring or complex issues using standardized reporting formats. Assess customer application needs and coordinate with application or product engineering teams for solutions. Stay informed on semiconductor testing advancements and wafer probing technologies. Complete detailed Field Service Reports (FSRs) including root cause analyses. Recommend process or equipment improvements based on workflow observations. Travel domestically for equipment installations, service, and training. Provide on-site and remote technical support and guidance to customer personnel.
Working Hours: 8:00-17:00 (flexibility required for customer emergencies)
Working Location: Boise, Idaho
Compensation: $28–$32/hr + performance-based bonus
Qualifications Required: Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field plus at least 2 years' wafer prober experience, OR bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with semiconductor equipment background. Proven troubleshooting skills with precision electromechanical systems or semiconductor equipment. Mathematical proficiency for alignment and calibration tasks. Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and engineering diagrams. Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely maneuver heavy equipment.
Preferred:
  • Manufacturer certification or OEM training in wafer prober operation/maintenance.
  • Business-level Japanese language proficiency.
  • Military experience in precision equipment maintenance.
  • Direct hands-on experience with semiconductor wafer probing systems. Technical Competencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and remote diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor testing protocols and wafer probing methodologies.
