Three Rivers Treatment Center is seeking a dependable, safety-minded, and compassionate Transportation Skills Coach to join our team. This position combines safe transportation, youth supervision, behavioral support, and Skills Coach responsibilities. The Transportation Skills Coach helps ensure that our residents safely attend medical, dental, therapeutic, educational, and recreational appointments while also providing structure, supervision, encouragement, and positive behavioral support throughout the day. Transportation Responsibilities Safely transport residents to medical, dental, therapeutic, educational, and recreational appointments and activities. Maintain a safe and professional environment during all transportation activities. Ensure residents follow facility rules and behavioral expectations while in transit and during outings. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspections. Check vehicles for fuel, cleanliness, safety concerns, and maintenance needs. Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly. Maintain accurate transportation logs, including departure and arrival times, destinations, mileage, and required resident information. Communicate with clinical, residential, and administrative staff regarding schedules, delays, changes, or incidents. Assist with resident supervision and support during appointments and community outings. Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns or emergencies during transportation. Follow all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements when transporting and communicating information about residents. Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record. Skills Coach Responsibilities Actively supervise and engage residents in the school and residential treatment environments. Maintain a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Monitor resident interactions and provide appropriate behavioral redirection. Coach residents in behavioral, social, emotional, educational, and life skills. Develop positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Use effective communication and de-escalation techniques to prevent and manage conflict. Avoid power struggles and model appropriate behavior and communication. Participate in groups, activities, and programming designed to promote emotional and social growth. Recognize behavioral or emotional patterns that may require additional intervention. Follow individualized treatment plans, program expectations, and behavioral interventions. Perform required rounds and maintain appropriate supervision based on resident observation levels. Maintain responsibility for assigned keys and assist in ensuring rooms and program areas are secure. Support students in the classroom by helping them remain engaged and on task. Assist students with assignments and reinforce classroom expectations. Monitor classroom behavior, computer use, personal items, and other classroom requirements. Document observations, incidents, interventions, and other required information accurately in the electronic record. Communicate important observations and concerns to supervisors and the treatment team. Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Complete all required staff development and training. Perform other duties necessary to support the safe and effective operation of the program.

Minimum Qualifications: EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field preferred, but not required.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting serving children or adolescents preferred/required according to facility requirements. Previous healthcare, residential treatment, facility, or youth-services experience preferred. Transportation experience preferred. Handyman, maintenance, housekeeping, or general facility-support experience strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications & Certifications: Valid driver's license in good standing. Clean/satisfactory driving record. CPR and First Aid certification. Behavioral Management/Behavioral Intervention training. Ability to successfully complete required background checks and other pre-employment requirements. Must be at least 19 years of age, consistent with applicable Virginia residential facility requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate will be able to: Communicate effectively in English and accurately document information. Communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in the care and treatment of residents. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Work independently while following established policies and procedures. Demonstrate good judgment and maintain safety in transportation and residential settings. Understand basic child and adolescent development. Understand basic behavioral health and mental health principles. Demonstrate knowledge of basic psychiatric terminology. Develop healthy, professional relationships with children and adolescents. Consistently apply rules, expectations, and behavioral interventions. Maintain confidentiality and protect resident information. Safely operate facility vehicles and identify basic vehicle safety and maintenance concerns.
Working Conditions: This position works in both indoor and community-based environments, including residential, school, medical, and recreational settings. The employee may spend significant periods of time driving or riding in facility vehicles and may be required to assist with resident supervision during community outings. Indoor work areas are generally well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned. The position may require standing, walking, sitting, bending, and other physical activities associated with supervising and supporting youth. Why Work at Three Rivers?
