About the role
A law firm's Chicago office is looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Legal Assistant with at least three years of experience in corporate transactions and franchise law. In this role, you'll support attorneys across a busy workload while providing top-notch administrative support to business clients. Success here means thriving under pressure, bringing a professional demeanor, and having solid technical and organizational chops.
What You'll Do:
Manage demanding, high-volume scheduling for both attorneys and clients Act as a key point of contact for clients — fielding calls and nurturing strong relationships Draft and prepare sensitive correspondence, reports, and legal paperwork Build and maintain spreadsheets, using formulas and pivot tables Manage attorney billing and time-entry tasks Keep client files organized, both physically and digitally (using Net Docs)Support corporate closings and franchise deals as they happen Always protect the confidentiality of firm and client information Pitch in on front-desk/reception coverage when needed Take on other administrative work as it comes up
What You'll Need:
Legal Background: At least 3 years working in corporate transactions At least 1 year working in Franchise Law Comfort with closing procedures, entity formation, and corporate governance paperwork
Tech Skills:
Strong command of Microsoft 365, particularly: Excel (formulas, pivot tables)Power Point (building polished presentations)Outlook and Word (calendar management, legal document formatting)Experience working within a document management system Organizational Ability: Comfortable juggling multiple priorities under tight deadlines Background with billing and time-entry software Communication & Client Interaction: Strong written and verbal communication Polished, professional interpersonal style for client-facing work Sound judgment and discretion with confidential material Personal Qualities: Detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable Flexible and collaborative when priorities shift Respectful and ethical in all dealings
Education:
