About the role

DSP - Monday Through Friday Second Shift Hickory, North Carolina Maxim Healthcare is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized support to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role requires driving and accompanying patients throughout the community to help them achieve their short-term and long-term personal goals. DSPs serve as mentors, advocates, and life coaches by fostering independence, teaching life skills, promoting community engagement, and supporting meaningful participation in social, recreational, educational, and vocational activities. This role requires that you are comfortable transporting patients, encouraging personal growth, and creating opportunities that enhance quality of life and overall independence. Responsibilities:

Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal prep, and household chores
May transport clients to and from community activities
Support individual in achieving their developmental goals and fostering independence
Encourage community participation and accompany individuals on outings and social activities
Responsible for documenting observations and progress on specific goals and ensuring a safe environment for client

Requirements:

NCI TrainingCPR/FAHigh school diploma or GED requiredTB screening
Active driver's license
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus.
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in the English language required
Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation
Must be at least 18 years of age
