Angler Counter
grand rapids public museumGrand Rapids (MI)
About the role
Along with our community partners, the GRPM is looking for Volunteer Angler Counters! Counters will document the number of anglers in a 2 mile section of the Grand River from Leonard to Fulton Streets. Training will be provided (scheduled next on August 6, 2026). Volunteers are asked to sign up at training to do at least 2 counts, each taking approximately 2 hours. This research will help document the long-term changes that occur when the city of Grand Rapids begins the river rehabilitation that will add two miles of rapid habitat throughout downtown Grand Rapids, as proposed by Grand Rapids White Water. Registration required for training. (Those under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.)
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
