About the role
Shift Supervisor We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Maricopa, AZ. The Shift Supervisor works directly with the Site Manager and Plant Manager assisting in the day-to-day operations of the de-linting and packaging plants as well as shipping and receiving in the warehouse. This position supports production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. They perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process design and engineering. They will facilitate self-directed work teams, provide training in "core skill" areas to teams and peers, and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution and process improvement. Key emphasis will be placed on achieving daily, weekly, and yearly production goals set forth by cotton seed supply while producing a high-quality product within a safe work environment. Assisting the site in all audits, which includes audit preparation, presence during the audits, creating an action plan for audit items, and following through with closing out audit action items and sustainability of programs after the audits are closed. Facilitating the processing of seed conditioning in the absence of administrative support and become a key user for SAP seed conditioning. Supporting projects at the site, including vendor meetings, reviewing plant drawings for accuracy, safety during the project execution, bid walk-downs, vendor selection, and recommendation on project design. Supporting local EHS staff in all EHS and safety related functions (ERP, Toolbox topics, audits, and safety inspections).Creating and maintaining a positive EHS culture within the site by engaging in all aspects of the site and company requirements. Leading team meetings for shift change, cleaning, maintenance, and regulatory topics while being actively involved in the hands-on training of contractors to include evaluations for competence. Managing the plant monitoring programs and following standard operating procedures (SOP's) as they apply to the various processes of the facility. Leading shift in inventory counts of chemicals, bags, and raw goods, seed count and packaging operations, variety cleanouts to meet SOP's, and monitoring quality of seed (immatures, cracks, and seed color and seed treatments).Working with employees to develop programs that result in improvement in work skills and the ability to take disciplinary action. Being actively involved with Employee Dialogue and goal setting with direct reports. Setting schedules and working with employees to align with the progression programs. Assisting in the management of the site's Quality and Stewardship initiatives. Working with the QA lab to maintain full compliance of QA standards, equipment maintenance and updates, and quality testing training. If you...Have a Bachelor's Degree, preferred. Bring minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, seed production, ginning and seed conditioning, or relevant farm/mechanical experience. Have knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulatory requirements preferred. Leverage SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint effectively to support daily operations and decision-making. Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Safety (Responsible Care preferred), Stewardship, and Quality Management systems. Bring strong organizational, leadership, and managerial skills. Lead direct reports through effective coaching, performance management, and team development. Hold Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence certification preferred.
