Position Summary:
The Experienced Craftsmen is responsible for complex wood shaping, custom assembly, intricate curves and angle work, decorative grid work, screen fabrication, and product repairs (including occasional on-site repairs). This role also serves as a technical advisor to the sales and engineering teams on custom design feasibility and manufacturing processes. Compensation & Incentives
Signing Bonus:
$10,000 signing bonus (terms and payment schedule to be detailed in offer letter).
Essential Functions:
Production & Fabrication: Execute complex custom woodworking, shaping, assembly, and finishing tasks as outlined in department specifications.
Quality Assurance: Maintain strict quality control standards for all finished products and components.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery as assigned by the department leader.
Delivery Commitments: Work overtime as required to meet scheduled customer delivery timelines.
Safety & Workplace Standards: Work safely at all times, adhere to all safety protocols, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Technical Consultation: Offer practical insight and advice to engineering and sales teams regarding custom millwork and door construction.
Education & Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Proven prior experience in custom architectural woodwork or door manufacturing, specifically in:
- Shaping & Assembly
- Pre-Hang & Stopping-InCustom Veneering Processes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Veneering & Pressing Operations:
Veneer Techniques: Slip-matched, book-matched, veneer stitching, and veneer softening.
Equipment Operation: Guillotine/shear, veneering panel press, and edge bander.
Veneer Restoration: Skilled in detailed veneer repair.
Fire Door & Core Preparation:
Fire door core preparation and fire jamb fabrication. Pressing fire door cores and pressing faces on flush doors.
Pre-Hang & Assembly:
Fittings & Hardware: Pre-fitting jambs, door stops, thresholds, and manual machining for miscellaneous hardware and weather stripping.
Assembly: Exterior and interior jamb assembly.
Molding & Glass Application:
- Glazing & Panels: Application of interior and exterior glass and panels (Single Glazed / Insulated Glass).Custom Molding: Curved/irregular molding application, cut/cope/apply Simulated Divided Lites (SDL), and manual cope removal using hand routing techniques.
- Specialty Installations: Installation of specialty components, including mirrors with black die molding.
