About the role
Production Machine Operator IThe primary function of this position is to perform entry-level job duties on the finish end of the roll mill. Assists in other areas of the mill as required. Essential duties and responsibilities include attention to safety according to specific training and safety rules, assisting in the banding, wiring, and removal of the bar/coil as it comes off the line, applying identification tags to bar/coil and stamping appropriate ID on end of bar, using forklift or overhead crane to remove bar/coil to the appropriate staging area, insuring that supplies used on the finish end are available, such as wire used to tie the bar/coil and bands and staples to supply the banding guns, learning and applying inspection procedures and techniques used to insure the quality of the product, removing scrap from the area and segregating it by grade, responsible for general housekeeping of the finish end of the roll mill, and assisting mill adjusters during changeovers. Qualifications/training: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
