Twiggs BESS Facility - Dry Branch, GAWadley BESS Facility - Wadley, GASouth Hall BESS Facility – Gainesville, GABowen BESS Facility -Euharlee, GAWansley BESS Facility - Carrollton, GAYates BESS Facility -Newnan, GALaurens Solar / BESS Facility – East Dublin, GAMitchell Solar / BESS - Albany, GARobins Solar / BESS – Macon, GAMoody Solar / BESS – Valdosta, GAMcGrau Ford BESS – Ball Ground, GAJOB SUMMARY:The Renewables Technician is responsible for performing field-based operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance, and work-management activities in support of GPC Renewable and Resilient Generation Solar, battery energy storage system (BESS), and distributed energy resource (DER) facilities. This position supports the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of utility-scale photovoltaic solar plants, distributed generation assets, resiliency resources, and battery energy storage facilities across the state of Georgia. The role requires the application of technical knowledge in renewable generation operations, DC and AC electrical systems, industrial safety, work control, and equipment maintenance to sustain asset availability, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance. The position monitors and operates renewable generation assets through SCADA and related control systems; performs inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment such as inverters, PV modules, combiner boxes, BESS equipment, controllers, metering systems, transformers, switchgear, SCADA components, and RICE generators; and supports work on 600v–1500v DC systems and medium-voltage AC systems up to 34.5KV. The Renewables Technician also supports planning, scheduling, documentation, inventory, and equipment tracking through IBM Maximo and executes switching and lockout/tagout responsibilities using Generation SafeTK.In addition to hands-on technical work, the position contributes to environmental, health, safety, and operational compliance by following established standards, facilitating LOTO activities, monitoring contractor work on-site, and escalating issues as appropriate. The role requires sound field judgment, strong troubleshooting capability, effective communication, physical readiness for demanding field work, and availability for 24/7 shift coverage, holidays, on-call assignments, and travel to multiple renewable and resiliency generation sites as business needs require.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Experience and Education
Possession of an accredited two-year technical degree from a recognized technical institution or equivalent military experience. Qualification on the EEI Tech test. Prior experience in solar plant maintenance and operations is preferred. Proficiency with MAXIMO and SafeTK systems is desirable. Familiarity with medium- and low-voltage distributed systems is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with industrial or power plant operations and maintenance. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and industrial safety, including LOTO, switching, maintenance, and compliance. Ability to read electrical schematics and prints. Skilled in DC systems and equipment, with basic understanding of medium/high-voltage AC systems up to 34.5KV.Strong multitasking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable. Physically fit for demanding work. Available for 24/7 shift coverage, holidays, and on-call duty.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor, operate, and support renewable generation assets using SCADA and related control systems. Perform site operations and maintenance activities for utility-scale solar, BESS, DER, and related resiliency assets. Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair AC and DC equipment, including systems operating from 600v–1500v DC and medium-voltage AC systems up to 34.5KV.Maintain and support inverters, PV modules, combiner boxes, BESS equipment, SCADA systems, controllers, metering systems, transformers, switchgear, and RICE generators. Support planning, scheduling, work execution, documentation, inventory management, and equipment tracking through IBM Maximo. Execute switching and lockout/tagout responsibilities using Generation SafeTK; serve as LOTO administrator and facilitator as assigned. Ensure work is performed in accordance with environmental, health, safety, compliance, and operational standards. Oversee contractor activities on-site to support compliance with company, site, and safety requirements. Travel to renewable and resiliency generation sites across Georgia as operational needs require. Attend team meetings, complete assigned training, and communicate effectively with leadership, peers, contractors, and stakeholders.
