Billingsgate Fish Market Cashier Billingsgate is a seafood market and cafe in the Rockridge Market Hall in Oakland, CA. It is named after the historic Billingsgate Fish Market in London. Responsibilities: Exhibit a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders. Prepare and assemble to-go and dine-in options from the raw bar, starters, salads, poke sections of the menu as well as market ready fish, oysters, and shellfish. Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain them to guests accurately. Serve guests and diners food offerings and alcohol with friendly attentiveness. Uses Point of Sale system and cash register to accurately record orders and compute the amount of the bill. Accurately collects payment from guests and follow proper cash-handling protocols. Restock food, supplies, and maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant. Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service, and clean-up. Cleans and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image.
Requirements: Minimum 2 years of cashiering experience.1 -2 years of experience in the food industry, particularly in fish cutting or meat cutting. At least 1 year of customer service experience. Familiarity with various types of fish, meats, and their specific handling requirements. Excellent customer service skills with ability to work effectively under pressure. Exceptional communication skills with ability to speak English clearly and coherently. Committed, trustworthy, and with a strong work ethic. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in food production. Ability to frequently stand and walk for an eight-hour shift. Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Basic math skills are essential. Able to work independently as well as in a team. Authorized to work in the United States. Must be available to work weekends. Work Hours and Availability: Billingsgate hiring for two (2) full-time positions at our Oakland location. The scheduled shift times are:10:00am - 7:00pm 12:00pm – 8:30pm Some flexibility is required. Must be available to work on weekends.
Compensation and Benefits: The starting pay for this position is $24.00 per hour, plus tips. Employees receive fresh seafood products and company merchandise at a 25% discount.
