About:
This role sits within the Quality team of a pioneering electric aviation company developing certifying electric aircraft from the ground up. The organisation operates across the full development lifecycle, from early-stage design through to FAA certification and production, with a mission to fundamentally decarbonise commercial aviation. The NDI Technician will serve as a Subject Matter Expert across non-destructive inspection techniques, taking ownership of establishing inspection processes, developing procedures, and supporting the build-out of NDI training programmes for the wider team. This is a hands-on, technically specialist position suited to an experienced NDI professional who is equally comfortable performing inspections on composite and metallic structures as they are developing the processes and people around them.
Responsibilities:
Establish NDI inspection processes and procedures in accordance with aerospace requirements
Support the development and delivery of NDI training programmes to certify team members across multiple methods
Perform NDI on parts and assemblies as required, documenting results in line with applicable standards
Select appropriate methods and techniques for specific inspection tasks
Prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures and work instructions
Provide or direct training, examination, and certification of NDI personnel
Audit outside agencies when required to ensure compliance with written practice requirements
Interpret and apply codes, standards, and requirement documents governing NDI methods Required Experience & Skills:
NAS 410 NDI Level II certification across one or more methods including UT, RT, PT, MT, or ET
Minimum 2 years of experience in NDI
Proficiency with a range of NDI inspection equipment and associated software
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Capable of training, examining, and certifying NDI personnel
Strong knowledge of codes, standards, and requirement documents controlling NDI methods
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and business reporting tools
High school diploma or equivalent Desirable / Additional Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in NDI within aerospace manufacturing
Hands-on experience inspecting composite structures
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as AS9100
Familiarity with advanced inspection equipment and software including phased array and digital radiography platforms
Working knowledge of CAD software such as CATIA or OnShape
Experience interfacing with ERP systems
Experience collaborating with manufacturing teams to develop new inspection processes
At least one year of college or university study
