Role Description: The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role located in Severna Park, MD. This position is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and performing monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will prepare financial statements and reports, support budgeting and forecasting, and assist with cash flow management. Daily responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, coordinating with external auditors, and maintaining internal controls to safeguard financial data. The role also involves analyzing variances, recommending process improvements, and collaborating with other departments to provide financial insights that support decision-making.
Qualifications: Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a corporate or public accounting environment. Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as solid skills in Excel and other spreadsheet tools. Familiarity with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements, with the ability to maintain robust internal controls. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and to mentor or support junior accounting staff. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a strong plus. Prior experience in a senior or lead accounting role and experience with audits or audit preparation is beneficial.
