The Opportunity: A leading US General Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior MEP Manager for a major data center development in the Alexandria, Louisiana area. This is a senior, project-critical position with responsibility for the coordination and delivery of complex Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) packages from design and preconstruction through installation, commissioning and project closeout. The Role: As Senior MEP Manager, you will take a leadership position within the project team and assume responsibility for the successful delivery of the MEP scope.
Key responsibilities will include: Lead MEP coordination and delivery across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems. Manage MEP activities from design coordination and constructability through installation, commissioning and closeout. Lead and coordinate major MEP subcontractors and trade partners. Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams, consultants and client representatives. Review drawings, specifications and project plans for constructability, coordination and cost feasibility. Identify potential design and installation issues early and drive them through to resolution. Manage MEP project risk and ensure critical issues are appropriately escalated and resolved. Drive subcontractor performance, accountability, scheduling and communication. Oversee MEP QA/QC requirements, including submittals, inspections, testing, compliance and remediation. Support commissioning and turnover of complex building systems. Monitor financial and operational performance across the MEP scope. Maintain strong relationships with the owner, design team, subcontractors and project stakeholders. Lead, mentor and develop members of the MEP/project team. Maintain the highest standards of project safety.
Candidate Profile: We are interested in speaking with experienced MEP construction professionals who have managed complex projects for major General Contractors, Construction Managers or MEP contractors. You will ideally have:8+ years of MEP / commercial construction experience. Significant experience managing large and technically complex MEP packages. Previous experience at Senior MEP Manager, MEP Manager, MEP Project Manager, MEP Superintendent, MEP Director or similar level. Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems, coordination and construction sequencing. Experience managing major subcontractors and trade partners. Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, BIM/coordination, constructability and commissioning. Experience taking projects through installation, testing, commissioning and final turnover. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. Commercial awareness and experience monitoring project cost and performance. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related discipline preferred. Previous data center / mission critical construction experience is highly desirable. Candidates coming from other technically demanding environments such as semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare or large-scale industrial construction may also be considered.
