About the role

Position Overview This is a Full Time - In Person position working in either our New York City or Scottsdale studio on high-end luxury residential, hospitality/lifestyle projects located throughout the US. We are looking for a senior architect with deep technical expertise in complex residential construction, strong detailing and documentation skills, and proven ability to lead projects from design development through construction. A deep appreciation and working understanding of classic design, proportion, and historic detailing is essential, balanced with the ability to re-interpret precedent and integrate modern flourishes that create elegant, modern, yet timeless environments. The emphasis of this role is on the technical side; constructability, coordination, documentation quality, and successful project delivery. Senior Project Architect Weddle Gilmore Architects Employer, Scottsdale, AZ, US Full-time, In Person Location: New York City or Scottsdale studio Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited program Licensure preferred, but not required Minimum 8 years post graduate experience in the US required Significant experience with ground-up luxury residential projects preferred High proficiency in AutoCAD required Fully competent designer/architect in all conventional aspects of architecture, who consistently demonstrates strong independent commitment to project success with strong technical decisionmaking skills and the ability to independently drive project success Manage and take ownership of at least one large residential or multiple mid-scale projects at one time Exceptional skill in architectural detailing, with a proven ability to develop refined, constructible, and elegant details for complex luxury residential projects Effectively manage other team members contributing to the project's success, and committed to positive development of junior team members Demonstrate enthusiasm for your work and proactively take on additional responsibilities whenever possible Possess strong technical, fiscal, and time management skills, working efficiently and effectively, often exceeding client and partner expectations Extensive experience & full familiarity in preparing architectural drawings and construction documents Strong independent coordination ability with consultants including Engineers, Lighting Designers, Landscape Designers, and Interior Designers Proven ability to resolve technical issues in the field and maintain high documentation standards throughout construction Key Responsibilities Provide full project support from design development through completion of construction, with primary focus on technical documentation, detailing, and coordination Personally produce and lead the preparation of detailed architectural drawings and construction documents, taking ownership of the documentation rather than solely managing others’ work. Lead the preparation of bid, permitting, and construction documents for contractors, building stakeholders, and municipal submittals Assist in the preparation of architectural design materials such as presentation drawings, 3D modeling/renderings, etc. for client review and approval Research, create, review, oversee, and coordinate design and construction documents for code compliance, quality control, and constructability Capable of independently conducting field surveys, site assessments, and construction administration Benefits We offer competitive compensation along with a generous benefits package designed to support your health, financial security, and work-life balance.
