About the role
PurposeThe Managing Director is responsible for subsidiaries business line revenue and functionality and will oversee all staff budgets and operations of the local business unit This position plans directs coordinates and oversees operations activities across the business units formulates overall strategy manages talent and establishes policies To be successful in the role one should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision maker helping employees develop and be productive while ensuring profitability This position is responsible for extensive and sustainable growth and creating back log in their business units ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost effective systems to meet current and future needs of the sectorEssential FunctionsKey areas of responsibility are Business developmentManage develop current customer baseDevelop and expand new customersCreate back log for assigned subsidiaryiesStrategic planning of current and future business model planAnnual rolling 12 month projection budgeting of business unitsOversight and management of current budgetsProvide solutions to issues eg profit decline employee conflicts loss of business to competitorsProspect for and assist with potential corporate growth by way of acquisitions M&ACollaborate with internal and external resources at all levels to add tangible institutional value and sustainable growthPersonnel management DevelopmentStrategic planning for annual training and development of current staffManpower planning for future growthPlanning and development of personnel benefitsContract oversight for any union personnelDevelopmental planning for current and future staffEnsure employees work productively and develop professionallyOversee recruitment and training of new employeesEstablishes communicates and implements operations related policies practices standards and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and executionFinancial budgeting and OversightDevelop annual business budgetsMonthly oversight and planning of actual budgetsTraining of all personnel for project and business unit budgetingParticipate in monthly backlog forecast meetingsControl budgets and optimize expensesStrategic PlanningPlanning for current business model and growthPlanning for future opportunities growth new business opportunities over the next 3 yearsDesign strategy and set goals for growthCollaborates with other business units and departments to carry out the organizations goals and objectivesEnsures that business unit decisions and project plans such as those for staffing development organization material efficiency hardware acquisitions and facilities are in line with the sectors business plan and visionAsset ManagementOversight planning management of current assetsPlan for new assets required for future growthOversee day to day operationsEnsure staff follows health and safety regulationsSupport corporate compliance needsEducationCertifications Bachelors degree in business administration logistics engineering or other industry related field required; MBA preferred; current Project Management Professional PMP certification preferredRequired Qualifications10 years proven experience as a Managing Director or similar executive roleAt least 15 years of Federal Government contracting related experience in a leadership positionIn depth knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations FAR and specifically the SBAs 8a business development program rulesExperience in planning and budgetingExperience in managing the profit & loss P&L of individual contracts as well as an overall portfolio of revenue sourcesExtensive knowledge of the principles procedures and best practices in the industryKnowledge of business process and functions finance HR procurement operations etcStrong analytical ability problem solving skills and attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsOutstanding organizational supervisory and leadership skillsProblem solving aptitudeProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareDemonstrated experience negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements CBAsDemonstrated experience managing portfolios of Federal Government contracts with an annual revenue of over 30MWork Environment and Physical RequirementsThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear The employee is frequently required sometimes for extended periods to walk stand or sit This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders or stairs;
