Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite | 5 Days per Week
Contract Duration: 12–18 Months
Position Type: Contract (Open to C2C)
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our customer's Robotics Division, working on advanced electrical systems for surgical robotic instruments. The engineer will focus on the design, development, testing, and modification of electrical components for surgical robotics end effectors. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in PCB design, analog and digital electronics, cable and wire harness design, and medical device safety standards. Candidates with experience in medical devices, surgical robotics, or motion control systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities: Design, modify, and validate electrical systems and PCB assemblies for robotic and medical device applications. Support electrical design activities for surgical robotic instruments and end effectors. Review and revise existing electrical designs to meet performance, safety, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements. Apply medical device safety standards, particularly IEC 60601, to electrical design and validation activities. Design and document wiring diagrams, cable routing, wire harnesses, and electrical interconnections. Work with analog and digital circuit designs, PCB assemblies (PCBAs), and RF signaling. Support board bring-up, troubleshooting, testing, and electrical design verification. Apply grounding and power distribution principles to ensure reliable electrical performance. Support thermal testing and evaluate electrical performance under different operating conditions. Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and other engineering teams to resolve electrical integration challenges. Use electrical design tools such as Altium to revise, maintain, and document existing designs.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 7+ years of experience in electrical design engineering. Strong knowledge of IEC 60601 medical electrical equipment safety standards. Hands-on experience designing products incorporating PCBs and RF signaling. Experience creating and maintaining electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Experience with PCB assemblies, cable design, and wire harnesses. Knowledge of electrical grounding, power design, and EMC principles. Experience using electrical design software to modify and document existing designs. Ability to work onsite five days per week in Kalamazoo, MI, or Weston, FL.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in medical device design and development. Background in surgical robotics, robotic instruments, or motion control systems. Experience with analog and digital circuit design. Hands-on experience with PCB layout, board bring-up, and troubleshooting. Experience designing and documenting cables, connectors, and wire harnesses. Proficiency in Altium Designer. Familiarity with wireless interference mitigation, antenna-related electrical considerations, and thermal testing.
Ideal Candidate Profile: Our ideal candidate combines strong electrical design fundamentals with practical hardware development experience. Candidates who have worked on medical devices, robotics platforms, or motion-controlled products and who can demonstrate hands-on experience with PCBAs, cable assemblies, wiring diagrams, and electrical troubleshooting will be particularly well suited for this role.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
