Position Summary: Do you have a passion for ensuring safety in a high-stakes industrial environment? The Safety/Industrial Hygiene internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of an active refinery. You will work directly with our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team, contributing to the well-being of our employees and the operational integrity of our facility. This intern will be placed in one of the following groups: Occupational Safety & Health - Develops and manages programs and procedures that drive safety and promote a safety-first culture. Industrial Hygiene - Develops and manages programs and procedures that drive safety and promote a safety-first culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct field audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Assist in the development and delivery of safety training materials for new employees and contractors. Support the investigation of safety incidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. Contribute to the management of industrial hygiene programs, including air quality monitoring and noise exposure assessments. Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with various departments to promote a strong safety culture.
Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university, pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred, all others welcome).Strong interest in industrial safety and a proactive approach to hazard identification. Excellent observational and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
