Salary: $31–$40/hour ($65,000–$80,000 base) + 5% performance bonus
Schedule: Monday–Friday, generally 7:00/8:00 AM–5:00 PM

About the Role:
We are seeking a Drafting Engineer to join a well-established architectural millwork and custom cabinetry team in Elmhurst, IL. This is a hands-on opportunity working on high-end commercial and architectural projects throughout the Chicago area. The role involves drafting, architectural submittals, production drawings, material takeoffs, and CNC programming. The team is highly cross-trained, so there is an opportunity to expand your skills across drafting, engineering, and production processes.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed architectural and production drawings for custom millwork and cabinetry. Prepare architectural submittals and production processing. Create make-ready shaft drawings. Program CNC equipment and create cut lists. Prepare material takeoffs. Read and interpret architectural and technical drawings. Work on multiple commercial projects ranging from smaller scopes to $1M+ flagship projects. Collaborate with the drafting and engineering team to meet project deadlines. Turn around drafting and submittal work within approximately 2–3 weeks.
Qualifications:
2+ years of professional drafting experience. Strong CAD/AutoCAD experience. Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings. Experience with architectural submittals and detailed production drawings. Background in millwork, cabinetry, architectural interiors, construction, or a related field. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects. Inventor experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with strong CAD experience may be considered and trained.
