About the role
- Repair and modification of fire truck chassis
- Operate basic hand and power shop tools
- Ability to read and follow blueprints
- Ability to use and accurately read a tape measure
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge and understanding of air brake operations and diesel motor operations
- Ability to Mig and Tig weld is a plus
- Experience with low and high pressure air systems
- Knowledge of mechanical PTO systems and pump plumbing
- Understanding of torque values (Wheels, Axle Shafts etc.)Experience with driving a class B commercial vehicle preferredEVT certification highly desired
- Mechanical aptitude requiredMust be able to follow directions and pay attention to detail
- Able to contribute in a fast paced/team atmosphere
- Able to obtain forklift certification
- Kneeling, crouching and laying on creeper under vehicles is requiredMust be able to lift up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Able to take initiative and problem solve
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical agility test and background check
