Senior Accountant A growing, well-capitalized real estate investment firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its La Jolla team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this high-visibility role focuses on reviewing property-level financials, managing entity and fund accounting, and producing consolidated financial statements and investor reporting packages. It is an excellent opportunity for a confident accountant ready to broaden their experience and make a meaningful impact within an entrepreneurial firm.
Responsibilities:
  • Gather and review financial statements, trial balances, and supporting reports from third-party property operators for accuracy and completeness
  • Identify discrepancies in property-level financials and coordinate with operators to resolve errors
  • Manage entity-level, fund, joint venture, equity, and intercompany accounting
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
  • Consolidate property-level results into accurate portfolio and entity financial statements
  • Prepare investor reporting packages using property financials, trial balances, and supporting schedules
  • Produce variance analyses and management reports
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, capital activity, and distributions
  • Support audits, tax preparation, and external reporting requests
  • Improve reporting processes, internal controls, and monthly close procedures
  • Partner with the CFO on financial analysis and special projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3-5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Real estate accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Comfortable reviewing property-level financial statements and trial balances, identifying errors, and resolving discrepancies
  • Experience with multiple entities, consolidations, and financial statement preparation
  • Strong understanding of entity-level accounting; fund, joint venture, equity, or investment accounting experience highly desirable
  • Confidence in independently reviewing financial information and producing accurate financial statements and investor reports
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and advanced Excel skillsCPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus
  • Organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership in a growing environment
