FULLY REMOTE: ScolerTec is seeking multiple Senior Data Migration Engineers to support a large-scale cloud data modernization and governance program. This role will plan and execute enterprise data migration, conversion, transformation, reconciliation, archival, cutover, and validation activities supporting migration from legacy systems to modern cloud data platforms. The Senior Data Migration Engineer will work closely with architecture, governance, platform, database, and engineering teams to ensure data is migrated accurately, securely, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute enterprise data migration, conversion, and archival activities. Develop migration strategies, schedules, dependencies, and execution procedures. Build migration scripts and ETL/ELT pipelines for legacy-to-cloud migrations. Perform data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and source-to-target mapping. Perform reconciliation, completeness validation, QA testing, and source/target verification. Support migration rehearsals, production cutovers, rollback procedures, and post-migration stabilization. Automate migration validation and reconciliation using SQL, Python, Bash, or similar technologies. Design data archival processes aligned with retention and governance standards. Troubleshoot migration discrepancies and performance issues. Optimize migration jobs for high-volume datasets and limited cutover windows. Manage and optimize cloud data platforms and warehouse/lakehouse environments. Support RBAC, IAM, security, compliance, DR/HA testing, monitoring, and operational runbooks. Automate platform and migration activities using Terraform, dbt, Python, SQL, and Infrastructure as Code. Partner with Data Engineers, DBAs, architects, BI teams, governance teams, and application teams.
Qualifications: 5+ years of specialized data migration/data engineering experience, with the applicable degree/experience combination. Strong enterprise ETL/ELT and migration experience using tools such as Informatica, Talend, AWS DMS, ADF, or comparable platforms. Strong hands-on SQL, Python, Bash, scripting, validation, and reconciliation experience. Strong experience with AWS data migration services and cloud-native data platforms. Experience with platforms/databases such as Databricks, Redshift, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or comparable technologies. Strong SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization experience. Experience with Terraform, dbt, IaC, CI/CD, GitOps, and DevSecOps. Experience handling production cutovers, migration failures, rollback strategies, and tight migration windows. Federal or regulated-environment experience preferred. Preferred CertificationsAWS Certified Data Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Data Analytics Specialty, Databricks Data Professional, CDMP, SnowPro Advanced, or related cloud/data certifications.
