Role Description: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing all financial operations of CITY OF CARROLLTON FIRE DEPT. The CFO leads budgeting and financial planning processes, manages financial reporting, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. This role establishes and monitors financial controls, supports strategic decision-making with data-driven analysis, and advises leadership on long-term financial strategies. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing financial performance, preparing regular reports for executive leadership, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies. The CFO collaborates with operational leaders to align financial resources with departmental goals and optimize the use of public funds.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong Finance and Financial Planning skills to lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy. Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial documentation. Candidates should possess advanced Analytical Skills to interpret data, evaluate financial risks, and support evidence-based decision-making. Relevant experience in public sector, municipal government, or healthcare finance is beneficial. Proficiency with financial systems, ERP tools, and spreadsheet software is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
