Sterile Processing Technician Surgical Services | Island Health
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with variable start times and call rotation As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will support surgical and clinical teams by ensuring instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, and ready for use.
Key responsibilities include: Decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment Operating autoclaves and washer sterilizers while maintaining required documentation and quality controls Preparing and restocking case carts and procedural supplies Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating supply orders to maintain continuity of care Maintaining infection prevention standards and regulatory compliance Responding to urgent and emergent supply needs Collaborating with clinical teams to support efficient surgical operations Participating in department training, meetings, and continuous improvement efforts
What You Bring: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced healthcare setting Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset Working knowledge of medical terminology and surgical instruments preferred Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
