Role Description: The Senior Product Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Oceanside, CA. This role is responsible for leading the design and development of products from early concept through detailed engineering and readiness for manufacturing, working closely with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and production teams. Day-to-day tasks include developing mechanical solutions, creating and refining CAD models and drawings, conducting design reviews, and iterating designs based on testing, feedback, and manufacturability requirements. The Senior Product Design Engineer collaborates with cross-functional partners to balance performance, cost, reliability, and aesthetics, and supports clients by presenting design concepts, engineering rationales, and project updates. The role also contributes to continuous improvement of design processes, documentation standards, and best practices within the team.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong skills in Design Engineering and Product Design, including concept development, design for manufacturability, and systems thinking. Candidates should possess solid Mechanical Engineering skills, with experience in materials, mechanisms, tolerance analysis, and structural integrity. Candidates should possess advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills, including 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and configuration management in Solidworks. Candidates should possess proven Product Development skills, including prototyping, testing, validation, and collaboration with manufacturing partners. Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field; 5+ years of experience in product design engineering, preferably in medical devices, consumer or performance products and familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, soft goods), experience working with multidisciplinary teams, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
