About the role

Hybrid Work Schedule (3 days in office and 2 days remote) Our client is a well-established financial services organization seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys reconciliations, problem-solving, process improvement, and technology/automation.
What You’ll Do:
  • Prepare and reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Investigate discrepancies, variances, and outstanding items
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, schedules, and management reports
  • Support month-end accounting activities
  • Prepare documentation and workpapers for audits and regulatory reviews
  • Partner with Accounting, IT, and business teams to improve reconciliation processes
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting workflows
  • Investigate exceptions, incomplete data, unusual transactions, and automation issues
  • Monitor reconciliation quality, exception trends, aging, and recurring issues
  • Help develop and maintain procedures, controls, documentation, and audit trails
  • Support the implementation and use of AI-enabled tools and workflow automation
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience2–4 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with account reconciliations and internal controls
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAPAdvanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in a financial institution, banking, credit union, or similar environment is a plus
  • Technology / Automation Experience
Candidates with experience using AI tools, workflow automation, RPA, reconciliation software, ERP/financial systems, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot, or similar technologies are especially encouraged to apply.
