About the role

A rapidly growing, vertically integrated multifamily real estate investment firm is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee corporate and property accounting across a complex, multi-entity portfolio. This position will lead a large accounting team, own the close and financial reporting processes, and strengthen controls and procedures as the organization continues to scale. The ideal candidate combines strong multifamily accounting expertise with a proactive, people-focused leadership style.
What You’ll Do: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close, consolidations, partnership accounting, and lender-compliant financial reporting across corporate and property-level entities. Lead and develop a large accounting team, including managers who oversee additional staff, while strengthening performance, accountability, and succession planning. Direct annual audits and maintain consistent accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across the organization. Improve accounting operations through automation, process improvements, and scalable workflows while supporting acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, budgeting, and forecasting.
Requirements: 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, or comparable leadership experience. At least 3 years of multifamily real estate accounting experience, including multi-entity consolidations and partnership or fund accounting.3–5 years of management experience, with demonstrated success leading a large team and managing leaders who supervise their own staff. Strong technical accounting, close-management, and process-improvement skills; Entrata and accounting automation experience are preferred.
