What is the Opportunity? Reporting to the Project Controls Director, the Senior Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for providing project controls support to Aecon's ongoing mega-projects in the Nuclear sector. Citizenship Requirement: This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.What You'll Do Here:Complete all roles & responsibilities expected of a Project Controls SpecialistAssist in developing, establishing, and maintaining the project's cost management systemsParticipate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetingsProvide mentorship & guidance to junior team membersProvide subject-matter expertise to project team on any customized reporting tools & dashboardsAssist in monitoring project health & performance; ensure key performance metrics are well articulated to project leadershipRegularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trendsSupport the implementation of an Earned Value Management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecastingSupport the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, and the development of tools & templatesAssist with the development & implementation of a project-specific change management plan, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's standardsRegularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trendsRegularly conduct detailed labor rate analysis to gauge impact of economic factors & actualize cost multiplier assumptions; update forecasts accordinglyAssist in the creation & maintenance of tools & templates that ensure compliance with the processes outlined Project Controls plan & contract requirementsDevelop fragnets to be carried out throughout the project lifecycle, across the different phases for use on similar scopesLead meetings focused on assessing schedule progress, obtaining schedule updates & general schedule coordinationReview the contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management, and all other Project Controls areasPerform regular field tours to validate progressAssist in the development of a project-specific Schedule Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls PlanIdentify & lead rebaseline efforts when requiredDevelop & maintain basis of schedule documenting all assumptions & parameters underpinning the baseline scheduleDevelop fragnets to be carried out throughout the project lifecycle, across the different phases for use on similar scopesLead meetings focused on assessing schedule progress, obtaining schedule updates & general schedule coordinationPerform regular field tours to validate progressAssist in the development of a project-specific Schedule Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls PlanIdentify & lead rebaseline efforts when requiredManage the integration of subcontractor schedules (if applicable); review for schedule quality; assess progress and provide feedback to projectAdminister Aecon's P6 database; control access to maintain data integrity, set standards in collaboration with other sectorsEstablish and ensure a set cadence for the importing of back-up copies of project schedules managed in the client's P6 environmentAssist in the development of a project-specific Risk Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls PlanCollaborate on early identification & assessment of critical project issues and risks, and suggested corrective actionsFacilitate periodic project review meetings as the key liaison representing the Project Controls team leadershipProactively identify schedule variances, logic gaps etc.; facilitate the development of recovery plans & other remedial action plansAdditional requirements:Demonstrated Analytical & Adaptive ThinkingQuantitative, Engineering or Construction Management Post-Secondary DegreeStrong Team Collaboration SkillsDetail Oriented Approach, Focused on QualityStrong Verbal & Written Communication SkillsAgility & Flexibility in a Dynamic EnvironmentInnovative Problem Solving SkillsProject Controls Ambassador EPC Contractor (Self-Perform) ExperienceConstruction Field ExperienceMega-project or Portfolio Projects ExperienceMicrosoft Excel ExpertisePrimavera P6 ExpertiseERP Systems Expertise (e.g. SAP, Oracle, JDE)Cost Management or Estimating Systems Expertise (e.g. Hard Dollar, EcoSys, PRISM)Pay Range & Benefits Pay Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
