Job Description:
Job Description The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. This role focuses on reducing accidents, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring drivers and operations follow all transportation safety standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other transportation safety regulations Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of drivers, vehicles, and facilities Review driver logs (ELDs), hours of service (HOS), and safety records for compliance Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers and staff (e.g., defensive driving, compliance)Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports for regulatory audits Track and analyze safety metrics (accident frequency, violations, CSA scores)Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to ensure safe scheduling and routing Conduct new driver safety orientations and ongoing coaching Recommend and implement improvements to safety policies and procedures
