Design real machinery, solve hands-on engineering problems, and see your work move from concept through manufacturing and production. We are partnering with an established Rochester-area manufacturer seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of complex industrial equipment and mechanical systems. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys machine design, problem solving, and working closely with manufacturing to turn engineering concepts into reliable, buildable equipment.
Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment using 3D CADDevelop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and supporting documentation
  • Work with large mechanical assemblies, fabricated components, tooling, fixtures, and machine structures
  • Apply GD&T, tolerancing, material selection, and design-for-manufacturing principles
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to support mechanical designs
  • Support new product and equipment development from concept through release and production
  • Create and maintain bills of materials and engineering documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and identify potential technical or manufacturing risks
  • Work closely with manufacturing, controls, applications, service, purchasing, and other engineering disciplines
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during equipment build, testing, installation, and production
  • Support engineering changes and continuous improvement of existing equipment
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability, cost, quality, and performance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Mechanical design or machine design experience
  • Experience designing industrial machinery, automation equipment, custom equipment, or other complex mechanical systems
  • Strong 3D CAD experience; Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software considered
  • Understanding of GD&T, mechanical drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with mechanical assemblies, fabricated parts, tooling, fixtures, or machine components
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, actuators, motion components, or industrial equipment is a plus
