The successful candidate will contribute to formulation strategy execution, conduct laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret data, and support innovation initiatives across multiple projects. Through hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with cross-functional teams, this role provides valuable experience in pharmaceutical sciences, drug delivery, formulation development, and product innovation. The primary responsibilities of this role are to: Execute formulation development strategy for assigned projects; Perform hands-on laboratory experiments and formulation development activities; Solve technical problems through the application of scientific knowledge and creative thinking; Conduct pre-formulation activities and material characterization of APIs and excipients; Conduct testing of physical attributes of formulation compositions, prototypes, and new products; Analyze and interpret data generated from testing and characterization activities and prepare summary reports; Support the formulation team through literature searches and technical reviews; Present project summaries to formulation and cross-functional teams; Write and review development plans and technical reports; Participate in and contribute to innovation activities; Interact regularly with members of the formulation team and other functional groups within the Development Center. Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required: Currently pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Drug Delivery, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Ability to commit to a six-month Co-op assignment; Ability to work accurately and efficiently on multiple projects under aggressive timelines; Strong computer and digital skills, including Microsoft Office applications, DOE software, modeling, and simulation tools; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn; Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.
Preferred: Experience with Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and Process Analytical Technology (PAT); Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis; Hands-on laboratory experience in a research or development environment. Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant).
