About the role
Court Clerk - Superior Court Help others and give something back to our community. Public service matters and can be a great source of personal fulfillment. Whatcom County is currently recruiting for multiple Court Clerks in Superior Court. Court Clerks are relied upon by Judges, Commissioners, and the public as a key role in all Court proceedings. Superior Court involves civil cases, adult felonies, all juvenile offenses, divorce, child custody, support matters, probate, guardianship's, adoptions, paternity actions, mental incompetency, and abused or neglected children. This position also provides essential clerical support and customer service. Court Clerks work in courtrooms (including in the Jail) and in the office to accurately record and enter all records from a high volume of cases. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, distracting environment and have excellent skills working with others. Salary Range:
MCBA- Range 108.0. Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).
Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalency AND three years of progressively responsible general office, secretarial and/or clerical experience. Experience with court or legal procedures is strongly preferred.
Special Requirements:
Required to take the oath of Deputy Clerk. Reviews all applicable cash handling policies. Must pass job-related tests.
